Documents we handle

Your documents: finance & insurance

The accountancy and bookkeeping firms of the region handle files that cross the border every day: a Dutch managing director, a German cross-border worker, a parent company abroad. Get one balance sheet item roughly right and the whole document loses its weight with the reader.

01

Annual accounts

Balance sheets, income statements, notes and management reports filed with the National Bank.

02

Tax documents

Tax assessments, returns, tax certificates and residence certificates for cross-border workers.

03

Banking documents

Statements, balance confirmations, loan, credit and leasing agreements.

04

Insurance

Policies, general conditions, cover tables and product information sheets.

05

Claims

Claim notifications, statements of facts, loss adjuster reports and settlement correspondence.

06

Audit and compliance

Audit reports, engagement letters, due diligence packs and compliance paperwork.

Finance & insurance
How we work

The way we handle the finance & insurance sector

A badly rendered balance sheet item or a vague exclusion clause is enough to make a document unusable. Our linguists know the Belgian chart of accounts, the headings used when filing with the National Bank and IFRS terminology, and they know that insurance vocabulary does not copy across from one country to another.

Around the Guillemins district, firms increasingly work with clients based in the Netherlands, Germany or Luxembourg, and with cross-border workers whose income is declared on both sides. Those files, intended for a bank, a tax authority or a foreign insurer, often call for a sworn translation, with legalisation of the signature at the FPS Justice where required.

Documents received are treated as such: access limited to the project manager and the linguist, deletion after delivery if you ask for it.

Interpreters on site

The situations where an interpreter changes the outcome

Here the interpreter steps in when the client has to understand exactly what they are signing, or exactly why they are being refused.

Bank meetings

Opening an account, presenting a credit file, explaining an early repayment clause.

Loss adjustments

Adversarial assessments where every finding counts, with a policyholder or an expert who speaks another language.

General meetings

Shareholder meetings and boards of directors with participants from abroad.

Tax inspections

Interviews with the tax authorities, where the rendering must stay neutral and complete.

A document intended for a foreign tax authority or bank almost always calls for a sworn translation, sometimes with an apostille on top. Those formalities add 3 to 5 working days, and tax deadlines do not move.

How it runs

Four steps, one contact person

The same person follows your finance & insurance file from the quote request to the moment the document is handed over.

  1. 01

    You send us the document

A phone photo is enough, even a crooked one. For an interpreter, give us the date, the place and the language.

  2. 02

    Priced quote within 1 h

Amount, deadline and format: sworn when an authority requires it, standard when it does not. Free, with no obligation.

  3. 03

The file goes to a specialist

A translator used to finance & insurance vocabulary drafts it, a reviser goes over the text afterwards.

  4. 04

    Handover or on-site assignment

File by email, stamped copy by registered post if the counter asks for it. The interpreter, meanwhile, joins you at the agreed time.

What we commit to

Six reasons to trust us with a finance & insurance file

01

Belgian chart of accounts and IFRS

Our financial linguists work with the terminology of the Belgian chart of accounts and of the IFRS standards. When an item has no equivalent in the reader's framework, we flag it rather than invent a match.

02

Restricted access to documents

On a sensitive file only the project manager and the linguist open the files, and everything is deleted after delivery on written request.

03

A linguist from your field

A specialised file never goes to a generalist translator, not even when the deadline is tight.

04

Contractual confidentiality

A confidentiality agreement signed by everyone involved, servers located in the European Union, files deleted on request.

05

A price fixed in advance

What appears on the quote is what appears on the invoice: translation, revision and delivery included, with no line added along the way.

06

Travel included across the province

Our interpreters come to Liège, Huy, Verviers, Eupen or Waremme with no mileage charge.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

We employ cross-border workers, what needs translating?

Usually tax residence certificates, payslips and the certificates requested by the neighbouring country's administration. Depending on the counter, a standard translation is enough or the sworn version is required: ask before ordering, the answer changes both the deadline and the price.

Our annual accounts go to a foreign parent company: can you translate them?

Yes, the accountancy firms of the province ask for it regularly. We keep the structure of the Belgian balance sheet while using the terminology the reader expects, and we flag the items that have no direct equivalent in the other framework.

Does the bank require a sworn translation?

It depends on the institution and the purpose. For internal reading, a standard translation is enough. For international credit, an estate or a step with a foreign tax authority, the sworn version is almost always required.

How do you hold a filing date?

Give us the real date rather than a vague deadline. We build the schedule backwards and, if the volume calls for it, split the file between several linguists with a final harmonisation pass.
