A built-in laptop microphone, a room that echoes, three people talking at once: no interpreter, however good, will render that properly.
So we offer a free ten-minute technical test before the session, and the interpreter opens by restating the two rules that change everything: speak one at a time, and pause after each idea.

Short formats
An hour of remote interpreting comes to a fraction of a half-day on site, journey included.
Easier to schedule
With no journey to plan, a one-hour slot is far quicker to find than a half-day blocked out.
Difficult pairs
For a rare language, remote is often the only realistic solution at short notice.
Less suited to decisive moments
A hearing, the signing of a notarial deed, a tense negotiation: physical presence remains preferable, because non-verbal signals are part of the message.
The quality of the interpreting depends directly on the quality of the sound. A laptop microphone in a room that echoes, with several people talking over each other, will make the rendering approximate however gifted the interpreter. The free ten-minute technical test clears up most of those problems.
Four steps, 48 hours is enough
A remote session comes together far faster than an on-site assignment.

You book the slot
Date, time, duration, languages and platform used. One hour minimum, then in thirty-minute increments.

Technical test
On request we check the link, the sound and screen sharing beforehand. Ten minutes that prevent a wasted session.

The interpreter joins
Five minutes before the hour, they introduce themselves and briefly restate the speaking rules.

Billing on actual time
Session cut short: the minimum booked duration is due. Session that overruns: pro rata as agreed in advance.

Frequently asked questions
Can I book just thirty minutes?
Billing starts at one hour: the interpreter blocks a slot, prepares the subject and connects in advance. Past that first hour we count in thirty-minute increments, so a meeting of one hour forty does not cost two full hours.
What if the connection drops?
The interpreter reconnects immediately and warns you through the agreed channel. If the incident comes from our side and prevents the session continuing, it is not billed. That is also the point of the technical test beforehand.
Is simultaneous possible on video?
Yes on Teams and Zoom, which offer interpretation channels letting everyone pick their language. On other platforms we work in liaison mode: each person speaks in turn and the interpreter renders between contributions.
Do you work with teams in the Netherlands or Germany?
Regularly. Many Meuse-Rhine Euroregion meetings take place remotely because participants are spread between Liège, Maastricht and Aachen. French, Dutch, German and English then circulate in the same session: we size the interpreting team to the pairs actually in use, not to the list of languages around the screen.
Is it suitable for a medical appointment?
For follow-up, an exchange of information or an explanation of treatment, yes, and it is widely used, including for patients seen at Sart-Tilman. For breaking a diagnosis or taking consent, we recommend physical presence: these are moments where silence and eye contact matter as much as words.
