Most people who call us have a list of documents to provide and an appointment already booked. Our first job is to tell you what is actually required: is a sworn translation enough, does the translator's signature also have to be legalised, does the country the document comes from ask for an apostille? The answer changes with the authority and with the country.

Frequently asked questions
My certificate is in Italian, Turkish or Arabic: is that a problem?
Quite the opposite, those are three of the languages we handle most often here, a legacy of the families who came to work in the industrial basin. With Arabic and Turkish, the spelling of names needs care: we reuse the exact spelling that appears on your Belgian documents, otherwise the municipality sends the file back.
Do you need the original, or is a copy enough?
For the quote, a clear phone photo is enough. For the translation itself it depends on the counter: some accept a translation made from a copy, others require it to be attached to the original or to a certified true copy. We tell you when we quote.
What is an apostille for, and who applies for it?
It is a formality certifying the sworn translator's signature for use abroad. It is applied for at FPS Foreign Affairs. You need it if the document is going to a country that signed the Hague Convention, and it is entirely pointless for a procedure that stays in Belgium: do not pay for one if nobody is asking for it.
Family reunification: in what order should I go about it?
Start from the list of documents you were given and have translated what is on it, no more: civil status certificates, sometimes a criminal record extract and proof of income. Give us the date of your appointment, we build the file around it and switch to express if the calendar demands it.
